I am a former practicing attorney and industrial relations specialist, and focus my practice on highly driven and dedicated attorneys. I act as an experienced sounding board and advisor and support people at the intersection of career, family, and self. I rely on a strengths based approach, believing that continued success and advancement requires building upon one’s strengths, and capitalizing on opportunities at every turn. I understand the highs and lows experienced by my clients – the tough work of making it through the day being our best, to then making it through the evening routine, and to having no energy left at the end of it all. I help my clients gain more control and clarity over their lives so that they break this cycle.
I ensure a strong foundation in my clients through teaching the cornerstones of success – awareness of values and strengths, strong health and habits, and ongoing planning and accountability. I work with my clients to turn challenges into opportunities for growth and excellence. And in this process, I balance a direct, results-oriented approach with fun and complete engagement with my clients.
My formal qualifications include a LL.B. (JD), B.C.L. (Bachelor of Civil Law), B.A. (Psychology), International Coach Federation PCC designation, Marriage Transition Certification (CDC), and Systems and Relationship Training (CCR Global).
My practice is comprised of 50% lawyers and 50% corporate professionals or other motivated individuals looking to make significant changes in their lives.
I work with lawyers in all capacities. My criteria for my lawyer clients is that the commit to showing up for themselves in the process so that they can see change.
I hold an introductory call to determine whether there is a good fit to work together. Typically, the coaching engagement begins with a 1.5 hour Foundation Session and then continues on a monthly basis, with two, 45 minute sessions per month, until the client has decided that he/she is ready to complete the coaching process. I introduce tools and materials to each client on a tailored, individual basis, depending on the person’s needs and goals. Most clients work me on average of 6-12 months.
I am a champion for my clients and wish the very best for them. I work hard through our partnership to help them figure out their own, optimal solutions. I ask that they do the same for themselves – commit to the process and work hard to effect change.
I will work with the client and, in the case of a corporate engagement, with the sponsoring organization, to determine the best structure for the coaching program – this could include a 360 degree evaluation, meetings with colleagues, team members or leaders, or nothing but one-on-one work together.
Business Building & Relationship Management
A partner of a national law firm requested support in building her book of business, improving her interactions and relationships with the male dominated leadership of the firm, and in managing her work/life integration. I worked with her to assess her professional and personal priorities, to change her communication style with her fellow partners and to re-position herself internally and externally with a solid focus on her brand. She is more grounded professionally, and is settling in to a more structured routine to ensure continued growth in her practice while not sacrificing fulfilment at home with her young children.
Partnership Support & Work-Life Integration
A partner of 4 years at a large, New York City law firm, requested my assistance in adapting to his life as a partner in a very demanding work environment. He was experiencing career success in his first years as a partner, but knew that the demands would only increase as he continued to build his book of business. I helped him to develop an annual plan that incorporates his professional and personal objectives, with regular, actionable steps and accountability built in. He refers to the plan weekly, and finds that setting goals for himself and having me support him in this process has ensured that he actually achieves what he sets out for himself. This has resulted in increased billings, better client management and has significantly reduced his stress.
It is extremely important to have a strong connection between client and coach. This is why an introductory call is required – I want to set each person up for success and do that, the client should have the instinct that he/she can trust me to do so.
Fees vary, depending on the nature of the engagement. Please inquire.
