I bring an unusually broad perspective to all my coaching assignments, drawing on more than 30 years experience as a manager, entrepreneur, consultant, and coach in the legal industry in both the public and private sectors. Particular expertise in advising lawyers who want to move from private practice to government or in-house or visa versa.
Coaching Certificate, New Horizons. Completed 30 hours of training as facilitator and mediator by Northern Virginia Mediation Service.
90% of my coaching clients are lawyers. I work with all populations, from law students to lawyers planning retirement.
My goal in all my coaching is to be a force for positive change.
The coaching relationship rests on the client’s goals and are negotiated individually. For individuals who want guidance on making a career transition, we jointly develop a plan of action and a timeline.
Because of my extensive experience training legal employers on interview techniques (I conducted all the attorney interview training at the Department of Justice), I am frequently contacted to do practice interviews for important interviews or by lawyers who are making a move from private practice to in-house or to a government opportunity. These generally can be done in three or four hours.
Coaching is a collaborative process and requires equal commitment from both parties.
I generally work on a confidential basis with individual clients and would consult with others only if invited by the client to do so.
Commitment to the process, a collaborative spirit, and an open mind.
